Help an independent play publishing press promote equity and community for up & coming theatremakers on the margins!
Table Work Press publishes and advocates for promising plays, and forwards the act of reading as a valid and deeply valuable avenue for engaging with the theatre. We are a very new, very young, primarily BIPOC lead company building a collaborative and values based practice into our operations. The new year is a time when folks reflect and re-evaluate their priorities, making resolutions for change with the change of time. Our resolution is a bit different; New Year, Same Us! We commit to doubling down on our priorities, which have been rooted in anti-racism and anti- oppression, accessibility, and creating human-centered publishing processes. We work to make sure that each decision we make uplifts new voices, cherishes new stories, and creates new avenues for people to enter this gate kept industry. Help us to continue furthering our mission to bring life to exciting new plays, further the careers of playwrights, and encourage the joy of reading as imaginative practice.
We’re kicking off 2021 with a slew of initiatives: from celebrating the recent publication of our Two Plays book , to introducing a new virtual playwriting community, and engaging in the submission process for our next publication. We’re grateful to our Advisory Board - made of brilliant, genuine, multi-hyphenate theatermakers - who generously give their time and energy to Table Work Press’ initiatives. However, we are determined to fairly compensate those we bring into our community. Publishing, reading, community building, and operations have a fiscal cost. Thankfully, as we are small (but mighty!) this cost is not overwhelming; with your help, we know we can meet our goal! If you have any investment in new work, new plays, and new playwrights, please consider donating today!
Light to you and yours during this holiday season and beyond. See you in 2021 (aka twenty-twenty fun!)
