Table No. 2 New Beginnings
Donation protected
I'm Chef Omar, I'm a Detroiter, visionary, and enthusiast of amazing culinary creations. My restaurant, Table No 2 has been forced to move from our location amidst the pandemic, and we are seeking donations to support the costs with opening a new location.
Our landlord asked us to move out by June 1, because he has a desire to sell the building we'd been located in. This is a devastating blow, as we have been looking forward to opening next week, based on Governor Whitmer allowing the re opening of restaurants . My restaurant, Table No. 2, had a very strong start as Detroit's first neighborhood fine dining establishment in over 20 years in April 2019. Shortly after opening (July 2019), Livernois (the street we're located on) underwent a construction project that crippled all of the surrounding businesses and even forced some to close during that period. As a new neighborhood restaurant, we struggled but stayed open, and serviced our loyal customers.
During Covid-19, we did the same. We stayed open and serviced customers near and far, via curbside. We were barely staying afloat and were keeping my team employed with curbside, but were really looking forward to opening this summer (socially distanced and according to CDC guidelines) and utilizing our newly renovated outdoor seating area, and our landlord informed me that he wouldn't renew our lease (one-year pilot with 5-year extension) because he was seeking buyers to sell the building to. At just over a year-old and with the costs associated with building out the restaurant we had to move from, we have suffered a substantial loss. This money will greatly assist with moving our equipment out of storage, and launch our new beginning as a new location (TBD).
If you know of a location (preferably in Detroit) that would allow for a turnkey restaurant, please contact me ASAP, as we are looking for a new location.
Be Blessed!
