Around the beginning of October our beloved friend, Tabita Gonzalez (also known as Tabby by many), was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer. She is currently undergoing a grueling 20 weeks of chemotherapy. She will be getting surgery shortly after that to ensure the cancer does not spread. After that she will then undergo radiation for another 6 months.
For many that know Tabby personally, we all know she is an amazing mother of 2 boys. Noah her oldest at 7 years old and Silas her youngest who is a year and a half old.
The news of cancer came as a huge surprise, as she was previously diagnosed with thyroid cancer when she was 15 years old. It was a cancer she ultimately beat and has been living a healthy lifestyle ever since.
Tabby works full time at Celtic Intermodal in Jacksonville, FL and was recently enrolled in the fall semester at FSCJ taking 1 class to earn her degree. When first enrolling in the semester she was excited to get back into the books, but once she found out about the cancer she was unsure how she could keep up given doctors appts, chemotherapy, and being a single mom.
She submitted a financial appeal to the FSCJ to get a refund of the class she was enrolled in, fully explaining her situation & backed up by doctor notes. Her appeal was denied. She then requested if they could drop the class for her without suffering a penalty for retaking the class. She was denied again.
With the Christmas season now approaching, bills needing to be paid, and being out of work for a few weeks is putting a huge financial strain on her.
We are asking to give her some support. Tabby is an amazing, strong, independent woman! She is so selfless and caring for others. We want to be able to show her the same love she shows for everyone else. We want to make sure she never has to worry. WE ARE HERE FOR YOU TABBY!
