Tabby's hope for hair

Tabitha is an inspirational student from North Haven School in Adelaide. She was diagnosed with Alopecia when she was only 1 year old. Over the years it has progressively become more severe and it is likely that she will have lost all of her hair by end of the year. She has decided that she would like to have a wig made to support her through this challenging transition she now faces.

Her attitude, outlook and mindset is a true inspiration within the school community and we would like to support her in purchasing a wig in order to help her feel as beautiful on the outside, as she is on the inside. She not only needs one now, but will need more throughout the future as she continues to grow so we would like to raise as much money as possible so she is able to do so.

Tabitha continues to inspire everyone within our community with her resilience and positive outlook to all of the challenges she faces. A lack of understanding and awareness about Alopecia from her peers, at times resulted in Tabby’s self-esteem being affected. She tackled this hurdle by educating her classmates about Alopecia by having the confidence and courage to sit in front of her peers and explain her condition, show video’s and resources, as well as answer any questions they had.

Recently Tabitha was in a school performance and was having anxiety about her hair and the audience staring at her patches. We ensured to style her hair in a way that made her feel confident to be on stage. After the performance Tabitha asked her teacher to help take her hair out and in doing so her teacher asked how she would like it styled to help cover her patches. She responded by saying ‘I have decided that I want everyone to see my patches, so people can understand what makes me, me.’

Tabitha is a true inspiration so please help us brighten her life, like she continues to brighten ours!

Tabby's Mother: ‘We often take the little things for granted, the simple things in life. Tabby has always dreamed of getting to do her hair like her sister when we go out. Something so simple, that so many take for granted but would mean the world to Tabby.’
