After 5 days in the hospital and a life-altering diagnosis, Tabber Millard, drummer for Cory Morrow and numerous Austin artists, has incurred over $40,000 in medical bills, with many more on the horizon as he navigates the coming months as an uninsured working musician.
“I was born into a life of music through my parents. I was given the name Tabber at birth, which translates to little drummer. I've been playing drums since 6 months old. Drumming for me is like walking. I don’t remember learning to walk or drum, I’ve done both before I could remember!”
If you’ve found your way to this page, you’re likely familiar with our dear friend Tabber: an immensely talented drummer who’s played with multiple national artists (including Cory Morrow, Alpha Rev, and the Rocket Boys), toured more than most of us would aspire to, and featured on numerous albums. This guy defines what it is to be a working musician. But more than what he brings to the stage — those of us who know Tabber well know how faithful, loyal, and giving a friend he is. When you’ve got a problem, Tab is the first in line to help, at any cost to himself.
In early March 2024, while navigating and supporting his family during some challenging events, Tabber started feeling sick. On March 3, he was rushed to the ER and later to the ICU with severe ketoacidosis. Shortly after being admitted, complications from a flare-up of a chronic inflammatory skin condition mixed with his already dire symptoms and nearly cost him his life. Shortly after Tabber was stabilized, he was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes. By the time Tab was stable enough to be released from the ICU, he had spent a total of 5 days in the ICU.
We’re thankful that Tabber is now recovering, regaining his strength, and able to start playing the drums again. But now he’s left with the harsh reality of high medical costs and navigating his diabetes without any insurance to help. We’re hoping and praying that the community rally around Tabber — the way he’s done for us so many times in the past — to help cover his hospital bills and necessary medications until he’s able to get insurance later this year. Anything you’re able to contribute is immensely appreciated.
