Hi! I hope you are doing well. I am a freshman at Covenant College on Lookout Mountain, Georgia, studying Biochemistry. I am part of the Maclellan Scholars Program here at Covenant consisting of 12 freshman students who are studying and training to become Christian leaders through a four-year program. This May 2025, our class will be traveling to Türkiye where we will be immersed in the cultural and spiritual context of this predominantly Muslim country. This vision trip is an incredible opportunity to learn more about God's work in this historically rich region and see how believers live out their faith in a multicultural, majority Muslim context. Türkiye is a unique and exciting destination, a place where Eastern and Western cultures, ancient traditions and modern ideas converge. Much of the book of Acts and other Scriptural narratives unfolded here. The early church first emerged here and continues to this day. This will be an eye-opening trip as we experience this area so rich in Christian history now with more than 99% of its population identifying as Muslim. I am looking to raise money to fund the travel and living expenses for this trip before we depart in early May.
I have learned so much during my first two semesters at Covenant, both inside the classrooms with dedicated professors and outside as I’ve formed new friendships and sought to live faithfully as I live and work on campus from day to day. I’m looking forward to applying some of the knowledge and experience I’ve gained as our group explores another part of God’s world very different from American culture. We will meet with Christian and Muslim leaders there and learn more about the people and places of early church history. We’ll have opportunities to participate in worship with fellow believers using songs and liturgies developed in the Turkish church. We’ll spend time with locals, seeking opportunities to encourage fellow believers and share the gospel through our words and actions. I ask for your prayers that the Lord will use this trip to stretch and strengthen our faith as we step outside our American context and to develop and equip us as leaders in our unique spheres of influence. Please pray that our eyes will be opened to see what Jesus is doing to grow his church in this Muslim context; that we will grow in our love and empathy for the people of Türkiye; and that we will be challenged and strengthened to serve the Lord in new ways.
As a member of a missionary family and Swedish dual-citizen, I’ve had the opportunity to live in a majority-unbelieving context for many years. For the past ten years, I’ve spent the summers living, working, and serving a local evangelical church alongside my family in Sweden. Each summer has been incredibly formative and eye-opening as I form friendships with non-believers and experience a lifestyle and mindset quite different from that of my American home during the school year. I am excited to expand my knowledge of God’s world and the church overseas through this trip to Türkiye–a location further east and characterized by Islam. This vision trip is an incredible opportunity both for my education and faith, and I would greatly appreciate your financial and prayer support. Any amount helps.
