Help Kiwi Get Surgery
Donation protected
Hi, I'm Crystal and I currently live in Nagasaki, Japan. Last weekend while driving, I found this kitten in the middle of the road. He was bleeding from his mouth and not moving, so I brought him to a vet.
Japan doesn't have the same level of humane society systems as the US, so the vet sent him home with me and I've been unable to find a shelter to take him in and provide care. I've been told that the shelters that do exist here euthanize up to 80% of the animals brought to them. There is a large problem in Japan with stray animal populations with little effort being made to control and neuter them.
I kept Kiwi in my apartment for a few days and then brought him to another vet. They gave him medicine and shaved off the matted parts of his fur. They also gave him a blood test and an x-ray. His blood test came back normal, and negative for FeLV.
He's generally healthy, but his jaw became slightly misaligned when he was struck by a car, and now one of his bottom teeth is digging into his lip and causing pain. For the time being, he can eat and go to the bathroom fine, but the vet says he needs corrective surgery on his jaw as soon as possible so he can live comfortably.
After fostering Kiwi for the last week, he has maintained a very frightened and antisocial temperament. My original goal was to find someone to adopt him, but now I feel more and more that he would be happier being released again. Before I can do this, I would like him to be neutered and receive his jaw surgery.
Surgery is very expensive and I live paycheck to paycheck as it is. I hope that through this fundraiser, I can provide him with the care he needs so he can live the happiest life possible.
Thank you!
