Jameson's Funeral - Memorial expenses
Donation protected
My name is Melissa Collier, and I am the mother of Haley Collier and the grandmother of Jameson Hayes, the newest addition to our family. Jameson was born on Thanksgiving Day via C-section, weighing only 10.5 ounces. He is classified as a nano preemie and is among the smallest infants born at our local Children’s Hospital. Remarkably, Jameson is our "rainbow baby," as Haley experienced a miscarriage earlier this year.
Haley's pregnancy was challenging. She required a PICC line for administering fluids and medications due to severe morning sickness. After entering her second trimester, her condition improved enough for the PICC line to be removed. However, shortly thereafter, she developed severe pre-eclampsia and was admitted to Children’s and Women’s Hospital. Six days later, an ultrasound indicated that Jameson was not receiving adequate blood flow and was showing signs of distress, leading to the decision that delivery was the best option for his survival. We had anticipated that Jameson would weigh closer to 1 pound at birth, but he arrived weighing only 290 grams, which significantly impacted his survival odds, giving him less than a 30% chance. Despite these challenges, he is proving to be a fighter, with 56 hours of life and counting. The medical team has advised us that the first week will be critical and that he may face long-term medical issues, the extent of which will remain uncertain for some time. We are focusing on taking one day at a time.
Our family is currently seeking financial assistance to help with daily expenses while Haley is unable to work. We are also preparing for any unexpected developments regarding Jameson's health. This has been a time filled with both joy and anxiety, and we remain hopeful that he will continue to grow stronger and eventually transition out of the neonatal intensive care unit. Haley recently started a new job this year and, unfortunately, will not be eligible for benefits due to her limited time of employment. The vacation and sick leave she accrued will be used to cover her medical insurance. Additionally, we are facing ongoing household bills and the financial strain of both parents being away from work. The expenses associated with being at the hospital, including food and transportation, have also added to our challenges. Please continue to pray for our little warrior!
We would greatly appreciate any financial support you could provide during this difficult time. Thank you for considering our situation.
