Hi my name is Calvin Njugu (Calo) and I, my mom Rose Njugu (Rose Brown of Walnut Creek, California),  my aunt Pam, and great aunt Nelly Gathuma, and the entire Njugu family, are hoping to raise money for my beloved grandmother’s Lucy Wangari Njugu’s transportation to Kenya and funeral expenses. My grandmother will be laid to rest next to her parents in Kenya. 

My grandmother was admitted to Contra Costa Hospital in Martinez, California on Monday, November 1, 2021 with abdominal and back pains. She was transferred to John Muir Hospital on Tuesday, November 2, 2021, for specialist care. Because John Muir only allows one visitor per patient, my mom Rose, was at the hospital every day reading Bible verses to her and encouraging her by telling her how much we loved her.

On Saturday, while she was still undergoing treatment, my mother and the Chaplain were able to pray with, and for, my grandma. My mom had so much hope in her recovery and was planning to be in the hospital on Sunday morning. On Sunday morning, November 7, at 5:08 a.m., we received a call from the doctor saying that she had passed away.
While our hearts are broken, we want to honor her memory and take comfort in how wisely she used her gifts.
She was a dedicated professional nurse who excelled in her career, a member of her Church choir, a committed christian, and an active member of her Church community in Ruringu, Skuta. She has been in the U.S for two years where she attended Walnut Creek Presbyterian Church. My grandmother had a beautiful soul, was blessed with leadership skills, and a natural caregiver who was committed to family and community. She loved music, loved her evening walks, detective TV shows, old movies, and demonstrated her love for us in so many ways. She lived a very good life and was surrounded by love. I want to make her memorial service and funeral a beautiful one in her honor, so please help in donating. Thank you and be blessed.
