Glenn and Monika met in college and married in 2000. After travelling the country together, they chose to settle in the Twin Cities, to start their new life. In 2008, Monika was pregnant with their second child (Evan) when she detected a lump in her breast. Shortly after delivery, she was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer. Her aggressive form of cancer meant years of treatments which took a toll on her body, leaving her exhausted and in pain, yet she managed to be present for her kids and create a thriving environment. Glenn held it together, like a champion, working to support the family financially and emotionally; at times being both Father and Mother. Unfortunately the cancer spread throughout Monika’s body; finally claiming her life on April 25, 2015.
Throughout her life, Monika inspired many with her positive attitude, humor, and desire to live life to the fullest. I have set up this fundraiser, in her memory, for those who would like to donate funds to ease some of the immediate financial burden facing Glenn and the kids (Maia, 8 and Evan, 7) and to allow Glenn to start college funds for the kids.
