Amber is a 27-year-old University of Washington graduate who is working full time towards a Nursing degree at Bellevue Community College. She works two serving jobs in order to pay her tuition.
Amber is an avid traveler, and in early April 2015, she booked a trip to Puerto Vallarta with friends to relax between school quarters.
On the second night in PV, Amber was targeted by a group of locals. She was mugged and attacked and taken outside the city limits. There, she was thrown down a flight of stairs, causing a broken neck. She remained there concussed, by herself, overnight.
She went to the Emergency room in PV the next day, where she faced immediate international medical expenses.
Upon arriving to the United States, she went directly to the Emergency room at Overlake and was informed her diagnosis was even more severe. Not only did she have a broken neck, but also 4 of the 5 vertebrae in her lower lumbar, a fractured skull, a hematoma in her frontal right lobe and a piece of glass stitched into her wrist.
Because the initial hospital visits took place in Mexico, they are not covered by Amber's insurance. We are hoping to raise $12,000 in order to cover the cost of the horrific and unwarranted injuries inflicted on Amber.
Amber has maintained an incredibly positive attitude although she's had to withdraw from school and has been out of work for almost a month. These financial and emotional burdens have weighed heavily on her, but she continues to heal with a smile on her face.
All donations will be very gratefully received. Amber is extremely thankful for the love and support from friends and family during this hard time.
Thank you!
