Hey!
My name is Cy (most people who see this will know that already). I have been 'out' for several years now as a transgender male.
I am starting a campaign for my chest surgery because it will pretty much 'finish' my transition (because as of right now, I am not planning 'bottom' surgery). I am more than ready to take this final step. I have already started hormone therapy and I am in the process of getting my name changed - my chest is the only thing keeping me from living confidently as a male.
Unfortunately, I am not employed right now (not for lack of effort, but being employed and trans is .... very difficult). My partners and I also have a young son we are trying to support, and I am personally burdened by student loans and credit card debt that make it impossible to save what little I do have.
I already have my doctor picked out...
$6000 - $7000 is the price tag for decent chest surgery with an experienced surgeon who will respect me (AND keep my nipples from falling off. Very important).
The binder I currently wear is doing a number on my shoulders and my ribs. Oftentimes, it makes it hard to breathe but my dysphoria is so crippling that I wear it pretty much 24/7 (as opposed to the recommended 8).
Top surgery is necessary for my emotional and physical health. Once I have it not only will I be able to live more confidently and happily, I will hopefully be able to couple it with my name change and become employable, which will help alleviate so many other stressors in my life.
