My name is Rudy Hughes and I'm 18 and just graduated from West Linn High School, in West Linn , OR. I never thought a four year school was an option until my senior year.
My parents and I had always thought I would go to a community college.
My mom has brain cancer that had been in remission since 2005, however in 2014 she had a seizure while driving and had her liscense suspended. I am the oldest of three boys and currently the only one who can drive. I suddenly became the "mom" my junior year. I am still driving my brothers to and from school, doctor appointments, and running errands that my mom would normally do.
My mom and I are extremely close so when her brain cancer returned in January = brain surgery and chemo for a year = our family focus (as well as our money) has been realocated to her. Rightfully so!
With all that is going on with my mom - government funding has been difficult. So with hesitation I am putting myself out here to ask for funds.
