Raise the Shade

Update November 2022:

WE DID IT!!! We worked together as an incredible community, and now we are just waiting to finalize the dates to install the large double shade structure over the main playground area and the shade structure over the kinder yard play area.

We have closed our gofundme for donations and want to thank all of you from the bottom of our owls heart for making this dream a reality for our kids. Hoot Hoot!

UPDATE 8-26-22:

We have the most OWLMAZING community!!! To date, we have raised $91,800!!!

We are close to finalizing the plans to install the double shade structure over the main play area! Hopefully, this will happen over winter break. We will make an announcement as soon as we have the installation date.

We are sooo close to being able to install the much-needed shade structure in the kinder yard also. Ideally, we would also install this structure over winter break if we can raise enough funds.

UPDATE 6-30-22:

To date, our Old Orchard community of family, friends, and neighbors has raised around $85,000 for our fundraiser! We are hopeful that we may have generated enough money to have the main shade structure installed soon. We will update this page as soon as we have more info.

We still need to raise at least another $65,000 to purchase the shade structures to cover the kindergarten play yard and the swing area. Please consider sharing our Gofundme link on your social media pages and around our community. Together we can RAISE THIS SHADE!!!

The students, families, and staff at Old Orchard Elementary school are raising money to install three large, much needed, shade structures in their school play yard.

On many school days the temperatures in Santa Clarita soar above 85 degrees and well into the 100s. This makes it unhealthy and unsafe for children at Old Orchard to play outside...which they need to do!

This is the largest fundraiser we have ever held at Old Orchard Elementary but definitely one of the most important. Please consider donating to our cause and sharing our Go Fund Me link on social media, with friends and family, and in our community.

The Raise the Shade campaign can be broken into three stages. Our goal is to have all three shade structures installed in stages by the end of summer 2023:

Stage 1: 30' X 60' double sized shade structure over the main play area

Approximate cost: $ 86,000

Stage 2: 20' X 30' shade structure over the swings

Approximate cost: $ 32,000

Stage 3: 14' single post cantilever over the Kinder play yard

Approximate cost: $ 25,000

Because the Old Orchard PTO is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization, your donations will be TAX DEDUCTIBLE, and you will receive an email receipt directly when you donate!
