My wife has struggled with type 1 diabetes since childhood. She has been in and out of the hospital and nursing home since a week before Christmas. Now, she's lost her battle with infection and the lower half of her right leg. She is back in a nursing home now which is about 20 miles away. She and I were sharing a vehicle, and now that's broken down so we rarely see each other because Uber is usually beyond our budget. She's going need a prosthetic leg and we're not sure how much the insurance company will cover. I also have missed work from going to her procedures and from health problems of my own.
