Help Us Start Over

Hi, my name is Camila Rodriguez, and I’m reaching out with a heavy heart. On Monday, May 12th—just a day after Mother’s Day—my world turned upside down. A devastating fire tore through the Border Apartments in Brownsville, Texas (Apartment 501), completely destroying eight homes, including mine. Within moments, everything my boyfriend, his brother, and I owned was gone.
We escaped with our lives, but that’s all we walked away with. We lost every personal belonging—clothes, important documents, sentimental items, and even my car keys. We have no clothes to wear, and no immediate means to recover what was lost. What’s worse, the apartment management has refused to take responsibility for the damages, leaving us stranded during one of the most difficult times of our lives.
I’ve always worked hard. I just finished school, and I’ve been holding down a steady job—finally starting to feel like things were falling into place. Then, in the blink of an eye, it all vanished. I’m not someone who typically asks for help, but right now, we need it more than ever.
Anything you can donate will help us take the first steps toward rebuilding our lives—securing temporary housing, replacing clothing and daily necessities, and eventually finding a new place to call home. Even a share means the world to us.
Thank you for your compassion, your kindness, and your prayers.
With love and gratitude, Camila Rodriguez
