Hearing is Essential! Raising For Hearing Aids!

My wonderful son, Jordan, has been hearing impaired from birth.
He has struggled with many difficulties due to his impairment throughout his life.
Jordan became so good at adapting that even as a pre-school child, it was impossible to convince even veteran audiologists that he had a deficit. He was declared with perfect hearing, until I found someone willing to examine him at Tulsa University. At that time, they told me he had moderately severe hearing impairment.
This affected him in school and it effects his everyday life still, today. Imagine not being sure what people are saying much of the time, and misunderstanding a lot, as well. He has not been able to learn to drive, and all of this compounds to make things more difficult!
After he received his last pair of hearing aids the insurance company would pay for, he lost and broke that pair (he was in high school). As a single mother and low paid worker, with no insurance myself, I can not afford to purchase them, and his dad has passed away.
This past couple of months, Jordan took a job at a convenience store. Because of his hearing impairment, at times he could not properly understand people on the first time. Customers became angry and verbally attacked him. He explained that he was hearing impaired, but that did not stop the verbal abuse. When he finally told me about the situation, I told him he needed to quit that job, and I would help him with his rent and expenses until he could find another job.
Thank you for taking the time to read about Jordan's struggles. He is a hard working young man, a kind man and not one to take on excuses. He just keeps trying no matter how hard it gets.
Thank you!
