Nepal Earthquake: Death toll passes 4800 as rescuers face challenges- CNN
On 25th April 2015, Nepal was hit by a 7.9 magnitude earthquake which was followed by numerous earthquakes.
Kathmandu, Nepal (CNN) reports that more than 4,800 people are dead and more than 9,200 injured. Eight million affected across Nepal. One million children urgently in need of help. (Updated 04/28/2015 10:39 PM ET)
My husband and I were born in Nepal and have many family members there. It breaks our heart to see so many of our people suffering. That is why we have chosen to forgo our son's ceremony and instead donate the funds to Nepal.
We urge all of you to help me reach my goal so we can all make a difference. And I asure you that 100% of funds raised will be donated to the people of Nepal. People have not only lost their lives, their loved ones, their houses, but they are also terrorized as the multiple aftershocks continue to occur. There are many people out of reach who don't have shelter, food, and who are being turned away from medical care due to lack of resources. Kathmandu Valley seems to be getting enough attention at this time (that's where I am from), so I would like to provide this fund to people who live in rural areas of Nepal who are in great need at this time.
As we all know, many villages have not received any aid of any sort. We have decided to help the affected people of Sindhupalchok region. The fund will be used to buy tents, provide clean water (most likely bottled water), and non-perishable food.
We also have been in contact with Direct Relief. They are at Dhading base assisting with medical care and builiding health posts. A portion of the proceeds will also be utilized for medical equipment and care through Direct Relief.
