- My Dog Larry
Larry just turned 8 years old two days ago. Not long after, we found out he’s completely blind. He’s been diagnosed with SARDS (Sudden Acquired Retinal Degeneration Syndrome) — a rare, fast-moving condition that took his vision almost overnight.
There is only one place in the entire country offering any kind of treatment for SARDS:
Animal Eye Consultants of Iowa.
This is something no local vet treats. The treatment is truly a needle in a haystack — rare, specialized, and unique. It’s something right and pure to do for Larry, and I won’t stop trying to help him regain his sight.
More than likely, this whole process will cost me around $20,000. It’s not the money — I would pay much more if needed. What breaks my heart is Larry — who used to be the happiest dachshund — now looking so sad and lost.
This page is more about support than fundraising. I can cover the cost myself, but a few dollars or kind words from colleagues, friends, and wonderful people I’ve met over the years will mean so much to Larry and me. It reminds us that we’re not alone in this.
