Saving Keith

Just 15 months ago, Keith was told he would need a Bone Marrow Transplant as his only hope of survival.  He was only 41 at the time.  As a husband and father of three, he was a hardworking man providing for his family.  And now, he’s fighting for his life.

 

When he was taken to the emergency room on Christmas Day 2015, never in his wildest dreams did he expect to be in intensive care for over three weeks undergoing numerous tests, scans, & biopsies and finally diagnosed with Myeloproliferative Disease of his blood.  Identified just before it progressed into full blown acute myeloid leukemia, he was referred to Oncologists and Transplant specialists for treatment.

 

Waiting for a bone marrow donor has been agonizing, to say the least.  Several of us in the family were tested but didn’t match.  There were even two matches found through the national registry, both of whom backed out of the option to donate.  Finally, a willing donor was located, and while it wasn’t a perfect match, it was decided that his condition had reached a critical point.

 

Transplant day is scheduled for June 21, 2017.  Needless to say, we’re all praying for the process and his complete recovery.  He was told he would be in the hospital for a month, and his wife and 3 children are praying God brings him home safe and sound.  He was told he wouldn’t be able to work for a year, and his wife and 3 children are praying God provides for their family during this time.
