Charlie the Bullterrier needs our help to get well ❤️‍

Hello everyone .

My name is Margy and I’m creating this Go Fund Me to help a dear friend of mine Maija and her beautiful dog Charlie .

You may recognise both from our VBTR pages .

Unfortunately for Maija and Charlie, this Easter was incredibly difficult.

Easter morning Charlie presented very unwell , eating lots of grass and throwing up bile .

This continued repeatedly for a few hours .

By mid afternoon, Charlie was becoming increasingly unsettled and stretching a lot, wincing when her tummy was touched and shaking with pain. Her demeanour had completely changed from the stoic girl she normally is.

With a previous history of liver problems and ER hospitalisation

Maija knew she had to act fast as Charlie’s symptoms continued to worsen.

It was the greatest fear for Maija, that it was happening again.

Off to the emergency vet on Easter Sunday, they sat waiting, cuddled on the floor for a couple hours.

More vomiting, and violent shaking; Maija was beside herself.

Charlie was taken into ICU around 7pm and it was apparent that she was staying.

She spent the night at emergency on IV fluids and pain relief. Her blood test and xray results came back clear, but as we know with bullies, this isn’t always diagnostic.

This morning Maija went to see how Charlie was doing and get a plan for the day ahead.

Charlie did manage to pass a small piece of bully stick, but it is unclear as to whether this was the cause of the problems.

The vet wanted to keep Charlie there but unfortunately, financially this was just not an option. The overnight stay and testing have cost over $3000 and another $1200 was out of the question.

Maija has managed to get Charlie home where she will be medicated and monitored for any changes.

We can’t change the fact some of us are more fortunate than others in having the resources/ family / friends to get us through tough times .

Maija works tirelessly to make ends meet in her personal life.

She is an independent, self reliant single woman yet still finds time to give countless hours to help our bullies in care and for that we are always grateful ❤️

Charlie monster is her world

It’s not acceptable to me that both this wonderful human and her beloved Charlie are in such a dire financial situation.

Let’s get behind them both and together we can make a difference.
