As most of you know I rescued Meeko from Huron Valley Humane Society back in 2016. He’s been my best friend ever since. He’s helped me through so much over the last 8 years and now it’s my turn to help him.
Last week around March 18th he started acting abnormal so we took him to his primary vet on March 20th and they did blood work, gave him fluids and sent us home with antibiotics to give him. We were given instructions that if he didn’t start to act more normal by the next day to give them a call, which we did. They informed us that his liver enzymes were high as well as his bilirubin levels which were causing him to start to turn yellow. We were told to take him to the emergency animal hospital so on March 21st we did just that. They did an ultrasound and it turned out he developed pancreatitis. He has been in there since, hooked up to IV fluids, IV antibiotics, and has a feeding tube in his nose.
We are in hopes of bringing him home soon but we know he will more than likely have to bring him home with a temporary feeding tube in his neck, which will require around the clock care and regular vet visits to make sure the tube is working properly until Meeko can eat 100% on his own.
The extended stay in the hospital and the upcoming care has just really started to stretch our finances further than we can handle.
