Anna is a Mom of three, grandmother of one and full time nurse at our local hospital. She is loving, caring and fully committed to her family, both immediate and extended. She is vibrant and active and giving, connecting with her patients and making a difference in the lives of everyone around her. Two months ago, Anna was faced with a situation putting her in the role of the patient. She became extremely ill and was transported to the hospital where she spent a week in ICU. She was fighting for her life for several days, finally being diagnosed with severe septic shock and colitis. When she was finally able to go home, recovery did not happen as expected. For two months she was bed ridden and in extreme pain, too weak to do even basic tasks. To this point doctors have been unable to help her. This week we had a small breakthrough, and Anna was able to leave the house for a short outing (a trip to the store but we were thrilled to get to this point), as well as begin eating without the extreme pain. Now she is left with an uncertain future and mounting bills, with no idea of when she will be able to return to work. It is difficult to reach out for help in times like this, but for those of you who know Anna, you know your generosity will be carried forward as soon as she is able.
