Surgery for Maximus
Donation protected
Two years ago, I moved next to a couple who are now some of my closest friends, Brianna and Jeramie, as well as their dog, Max. Max was always happy to greet me anytime I came home from work, no matter how early or late, when Brianna or Jeramie were out walking him.
But a month ago, Max was playing with a friend when he started whimpering loudly. Brianna quickly carried him inside and after a check up, he seemed fine. He was walking normally, but he just seemed a little scared and would whine when he moved certain ways. Two days later, Jeramie woke up to find Max dragging his body. Two emergency vets later, Brianna and Jeramie learned that a disc ruptured in Max's back, leaving him paralyzed from the waist down. The damage was severe and extensive, and he needed emergency surgery. Max was given a 50% chance of regaining his mobility, and Brianna and Jeramie are still hoping to see him walk again.
There was no way for them to see this coming and they're feeling very overwhelmed, so I'm creating this page for them because several of our family members, friends, and coworkers have asked how they can help. Honestly, the best way others can help right now are by offering donations to defray the cost of the surgery and help Max on the road to recovery. The $7000 will cover the cost of the surgery, but they still have more expenses going forward in terms of providing ongoing care for him, (puppy pads, baby wipes, physical therapy, potential puppy wheelchair etc.) Max is such an important member of their family, and Jeramie and Brianna would greatly appreciate any donation, no matter how big or small. Thank you for reading this and for considering donating!
