On the 2nd of August, our son was born with respiratory issues. He spent a lot of time in special care nursery, before being transferred out to Royal Prince Alfred hospitals intensive care unit, as he was rapidly declining and previous intervention had not worked. Thankfully the doctors at RPA were amazing and were able to help our little one back to full health. During our time at St George, he was completely misdiagnosed and the treatment method and lack of care for our son was inhumane. He was very poorly looked after by the paediatrician and her methods were later questioned by the doctors at RPA, who were extremely concerned that she had let him get to that point. After this, we received very very large medical bills from them. We were already thousands and thousands out of pocket and really struggling to make ends meet. We are currently still struggling to catch up after so many fees and so much missed time off work to care for him, as he has weaker lungs and gets sick easily. He has already been hospitalised 4 times this winter, causing us to loose so much time at work.
The relentless chase from the hospital with debt collectors and lawyers has been extremely disappointing, as they were unable to diagnose him and had no clue what was going on. They put his tiny body through 6 X-rays and still had no idea what the issue or solution was. On one particular night, the doctor proceeded to tell us that his results were “abnormal” but she didn’t know what it was. She then left and went home immediately after giving us this information. As a result of all these medical fees and missed work, we are immensely struggling financially and living pay check to pay check. We have bills that are well beyond their due date and we are hardly making it by on our home repayments. The stress we are facing is indescribable. We recently found out that our older son (3 years) now requires surgery as well and it breaks us knowing we don't have the means to fund it. We just want to give our boys all we can and provide for them. It would mean the world to us to have some support and help from the community to finally put this situation to an end. Any contribution would be greatly appreciated.
Finally, due to personal reasons we would really appreciate you not posting this on any pages publicly. If possible just privately share.
