My name is Jim Zygmont and I'm trying to raise money for my younger brother and his young family in Fairfield, CT after they have been displaced by the massive storm created by Hurricane Ida.
Imagine waking up in the middle of the night to noise that sounds like water. Then you notice you are ankle deep in water. Then it's above your shins and items are floating in your apartment. As you try to leave you see your car partially submerge and realize the water is up to your waist and the rain is relentless. Meanwhile your family is in the house and you realize your only savior is the local fire department in boats.
That's what happened to this young family.
They lost everything in their apartment at the same time school began for their children. The family car was damaged by the water. Right now, the water damage is so sever that moving back in is not an option.
They need to find a new apartment, repair or replace the car, purchase furniture, and buy clothes & toys for the children.
The sense of loss is emotional, mental, and physical.
Our family is helping in everyway possible; helping with accommodations, food, making sure the kids don't miss school, and providing emotional support. This has never happened to anyone in our family before and we are trying to navigate the process.
Please help us to get them back on their feet.
