Hello and good day!
My name is Augusta "Gusti" Terkildsen. I am the youngest daughter of Monica Terkildsen and Terry Romero. I am Oglala Lakota, and my Lakota name is "Ka Yuzah Mani Win" which translates into "Long Journey Woman". I am from Wanblee Community on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation, and am going to college soon!
I have been accepted to Dartmouth, and I am planning on being a part of the class of 2019. I am raising funds to travel to/from college, room and board, and to pay for books (and the occasional coffee).
I plan on majoring in Environmental Science (Geology), with a minor in Language and/or Art. I would like to further my education, eventually to a PhD. My education would allow me to return to the "rez" and help it prosper with cleaner energy, land conservation, land rights (fossils, tribal land boarders). My dream is to advance my homeland to be an example of great perseverance, and advancement.
