It is time to rally around the Comer family again.
At a November 3rd visit to the school nurse Ella complained of stomach pain and had a fever. This was followed by a trip to Riley where it was discovered that her cancer had not only relapsed, it had metastasized to many organs in her abdomen including esophagus, multiple lymph nodes, colon, and bladder.
Ella’s oncologist is in Cincinnati and they immediately went there for follow-up including biopsy and scans. Things are moving fast, and Ella’s treatment for her metastatic disease is underway as of today. The aggressive treatment plan includes chemo, radiation, and surgery and is projected to last for the next 42 weeks.
Things have changed so quickly for the entire family and they are preparing for another long haul of treatment in Cincy with commutes back and forth to be with Ella’s siblings. All of the ways they will need support is not known yet, but they will definitely need financial support to fund the trips to Cincy and make life at home manageable.
