Mike’s medical treatment and recovery

This is something you hope you never have to do for somebody you love…

I am trying to raise money for my father, Mike Mullett, for his medical care and living expenses during his recovery.

On March 14th we received devastating news that nobody wants to hear, cancer.

My father was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic prostate cancer that has spread to his spine, neck, lymph nodes, and lungs.

Before we knew this:

My dad had not been feeling like himself for a while. He had complained of having shoulder and neck pain for a few months and assumed it was from pulling a muscle.

We had no idea the true extent of his pain and seriousness of it. My dad was still going to work everyday and making sure we were taken care of even though he was suffering.

After being in and out of different local hospitals without proper care the last month or 2, he was rushed into emergency surgery on March 14th after the MRI showed he had

tumors in his spine that were at risk of paralyzing him from the neck down if they did not operate within 24 hours. They were able to remove part of the tumor allowing him to regain function of his legs!

He has had a lot of tests done within the last 2 weeks and started radiation a few days ago. He will continue with treatments to hopefully prevent more growth.

He is still in the hospital healing and regaining strength to walk. He also has dysphagia (impaired swallowing ) and suffered unilateral vocal fold paralysis(which if you know what I do for a living, this has been very frustrating making sure he gets the proper care he needs)

My dad is the toughest guy I know and would never ask others for help.

The money raised will go towards bills and living expenses while he is recovering. My mom has also been taking time off from work to stay with him in the hospital. Any left over funds will go towards treatments not covered by insurance.

(The first thing he asked the neurosurgeon while being sent in for emergency spinal surgery was “how much is this going to cost?”)

I don’t want him to worry about anything except fighting and getting better!!! It’s going to be a rough road and we don’t know his prognosis yet, but I don’t want finances to be a worry for him or my mom.
