Hello!

My name is Asher Keating, and I’m trying to raise funds for my top surgery. I started transitioning (publicly) when I was 14 years old. I came out to friends when I was 13 years old and have been binding ever since. Top surgery has always been something I wanted, but it seemed like a far-off dream. I work two jobs, and while I have been saving my own money when I can, I have struggled due to the high cost of living that comes with living in NYC. After binding for the last 10 years and trying alternatives to hide my chest, I have caused damage to my ribs and have reached a point where the surgery is a medical necessity.

While binding techniques have helped my discomfort, the private chaos of living in a body that doesn’t align with gender identity has caused me massive amounts of stress and chronic pain. I feel like I am walking around in a body that is not quite my own. I have been putting myself through a lot of pain to feel comfortable stepping out into the world. Recently, I was able to schedule a surgery date for top surgery in December of 2025. I’m excited to finally be able to have this weight literally lifted off my chest; however, the recovery period is about a month for such an invasive surgery. Unfortunately, I can’t afford to be out of work for this long, and the general expenses of the surgery are extensive in my financial situation. My insurance covers a good part of the surgery. Still, next year my deductible will renew, causing the price to increase a significant amount, even with coverage, making it further out of reach for me to afford on my own. Any donations bring me one step closer to my goal.
