Three years ago, our family underwent quite a trial. My name is Becky. I am married to Quin, and we have two children, Collette, 9 and Adam, 7. I am a teacher.I had just returned back to work full time after 6 years of working part time to raise my young children.
With maticulous planning, and sacrifice, we made ends meet for this 6 years because we both believed in me being home with both our babies until they turned 5. We were wise with our fincances, and did not get into any debt. When I finally returned back to full time teaching, I continued to have chronic migraines, and vertigo symtoms to the point where I couldn't drive, and had to sleep 14-16 hours a day.
Eventually, I had to quit my job. We did not collect any disability payment or help. We had not planned for this sudden change in our finances. We, again worked hard financially to make ends meet on our own. I subtitute taught whenever I could.
Between 2011-2013, I received an MRI, a catscan, and blood work. I saw a neurologist, and a heart doctor. I tried perscription drugs, and tried natural remedies with chiropractic care/homeopathic remedies. We have medical insurance, but our medical bills out of pocket came to almost $12,000. Because I could barely function for my family, we also incured some credit card debt for living expenses.
My diagnosis is chronic migraines, and Miniere's Disease. I have learned I can control 80% of it with nutrition, and another 10% with great migraine medicine and vestibular therapy. I still have debilitating symptoms 10% of the time, but they are manageable. I have returned back to full-time work teaching 5th grade.
We have payed off $9000 in medical bills, and other living expenses we incurred over those years, but still have $5000 to go. We are asking for help at this point because it has limited how we can give to others, and to our family. Thank you in advance for your generosity.
