My brother, John Crawford, was diagnosed with squamous cell cancer, Stage IV, in December 2012. He underwent 35 radiation and six chemo treatments, forgoing radiation for one week due to almost dying with every side effect in the medical books, including Parkinson's like syndrome, and leaving him with no saliva or taste, but supposedly cancer-free! His throat closes regularly from the radiation treatments and he has had many procedures to open his airway so he can swallow and breathe. He is not able to work due to his disability.
In March of 2015, he was diagnosed with incurable Metastatic Head and Neck Cancer which has spread to the lungs, liver, and base of skull. He has undergone ten radiation and endless chemo treatments for almost a year, developed fibrosis of the lungs from radiation, is on oxygen 24/7 and is still hopeful in his quest for life.
His wife has numerous medical problems herself but has relentlessly cared for her husband and continues to do so, along with the love and support of their three sons.
The expenses incurred throughout his illness have been endless and Obamacare is not much help. He was rejected for a clinical trial at the University of Pennsylvania because they did not accept his insurance!
The clinical trial he was approved for in Fairfax is 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 hours each way, depending on traffic, and lodging is necessary due to the distance and the strain on his body.
We have met the most loving and caring people through this experience and we are sincerely asking for your support and contributions to help pay for his medical bills and accommodations.
Would you please help to continue his care as he would love to see his four young grandchildren grow up and be part of their lives?
Thank you for your generosity and caring for those who truly need help.
