Help Rick Fight Cancer!
Donation protected
Our father, Rick, was very recently diagnosed with Mantle Cell Lymphoma, a rare cancer of the blood that is often not found until the cancer is in late stages. Doctors also found a large mass behind his breast plate that is displacing his heart and complicating his treatment. In order to receive the care that he needs, he was taken by life flight last Wednesday to UW Medical Center. The team of oncologists, nurses and other care providers are working to develop a treatment plan to help him fight this very big, very uphill battle against this disease.
My dad has been married to our mom for 42 years. In addition to being a father of five, he is also an amazing, hands on grandpa to 6. He plays an active role in caring for his elderly mother and has never met an animal he didn't want to rescue. Our dad has always believed in serving others; this year marks his 20th year serving as a school board member in our hometown of Toppenish, Washington. He believes strongly in advocating for kids and has on many occasions acted as mentor, coach and father figure to youth in our community.
The financial burden of the cost of his care is making this sudden discovery and diagnosis that much more difficult for our family. My parents are too humble to ask for any help, so we (their children) are asking for them. My mother is having to stay in Seattle, several hours away from their home, family and community of support for his care. We are still waiting for a long term treatment plan and have no idea how long dad will be in the hospital. We are looking to help off set the cost of food, gas, lodging and other miscellaneous costs associated with his care.
We appreciate any and all help for our father and thank you for considering his care as a reason to donate!
