Earthquake Relief Fund, Nepal 2015

Namaste and Fyafulla everyone!

My name is Kalyan Lama. I was born and raised with my sister Sapana in a small village on the outskirt of Kathmandu Valley named Ichangu Narayanthan. Currently, I am residing with my family, Mathu, my wife, three children (Susmik, Sijan, and Sajan), and daughter-in-law (Sinthiya) in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. I am devastated and completely heartbroken because most of my relatives and friends whom I grew up with are in Nepal and are currently suffering due to the earthquake of 7.9 magnitude and more than 100 tremors and aftershocks that followed and caused such widespread damage.

 From my last conversation with one of my family members in my village, most of the homes have been totally destroyed and people are without basic necessities. I also came to learn that a few of my own lost their lives in this tragic incident. The media has not covered any news in Ichangu Narayanthan and I haven’t been able to reach anyone again since day before yesterday. 

 My goal is to raise enough money to help rebuild homes for those most in need and provide necessities such as food, clean water, blankets, medicines etc. Any extra funds will be used to help people in other remote areas of Nepal also.

 I strongly feel the need to travel to Nepal and personally distribute the funds and help in anyway I can. I genuinely care about the people back home however, I wouldn’t able to do this alone. Any help/donations would be greatly appreciated. I am aware that they are various organizations who are assisting and conducting fundraising campaign however, your donations for this campaign will help individuals in Nepal personally and directly. I also assure you that every single penny from this campaign will go solely for those in need in Nepal (besides 5% of the total money raised that goes to the site). Please be as generous as possible and spread the word!

 As soon as I can get in touch again with the people in Ichangu Narayanthan, I will continue to provide updates and information regarding the magnitude of the damage and also, where the funds are most needed.
