Lady without a Van - Help4Homeless

Donation protected
Winter is comming and Tanya is living in a suburban park in Perth's northern suburbs with her dog Spot. She has been homeless on and off for many years.
In the past few days she has come under increasing attack. Last night five teenaged boys surrounded her tent and threw rocks and other missiles at her. The night before a metal spike was plunged through the wall of her cheap tent. Tanya is terrified. Her aging dog, her only friend, was so disturbed by the metal spike attack that he defectated in the tent. She calls me most nights but I live the other side of the city and can only urge her to call the police.
Tanya has no place to call home. When I first met her a few years ago she was living under a thin peice of tarp in the same suburban park. I wrote a story on her plight and it was published in The West Australian. That story resulted in an offer of a unit, heavily subsidised by Len Buckridge, but when he died the rent went up to a point that Tanya could not afford. She got behind in the rent and lost her home. Spot and Tanya went back to living on the street.
Tanya's ex partner, an addict, has found her back in the park and regularly threatens her with violence unless she gives him most of her pension.
Tanya lives on a disability pension and is in consant pain. She was the victim of a very serious assault many years ago and suffers mulitiple injuries and complications. She should not be living on the streets but she has fallen through the cracks and no one is helping her.
Tanya has had no luck finding accommodation. She is on the state housing list but has been told she will most likley have to wait another seven years before she can get a real place to call home.
In order to give Tanya at least some protection from the violence of the streets and the harsh weather conditions I am fundraising to buy her a van.
With a small, cheap vehicle she could at least have some shelter and could go and live with other homeless people in a car park in Rockingham. Living close to other people she has a better chance of surviving the violence that surrounds her current life.
Having been inspired by the movie - The Lady in the Van - I would like to raise up to $3,500 for this van. Its not the best option but its better than the flimsy tent and the constent and terrifying threats of violence she now deals with every night.
Can you help Tanya?
I would like to raise these funds as soon as possible. I have seen a few vans on Gumtree and believe I could get a reasonable van for this amount. Hopefully it might be fitted out for camping but any shelter will do at this stage.
Tanya is a great letter writer and can write to anyone who would like an acknowledgement of their donation or just to keep in touch. Any donation big or small will help. I will keep you all in the loop as the campaign to assist Tanya progesses. This is not a scam its a genuine appeal for help for one of Perth's most vulnerable women. If I had a full-time reliable job I would buy Tanya a van myself but unfortanatley I'm a student and a freelancer so have nothing but debts at the moment.
I would like to make sure no one was ever homeless but thats a big task. What I can do with your help is make Tanya's life a little easier and little safer.
