Hello, my name is Amber and I am setting up this fundraiser on behalf of my little sister Ashley Voss. Ashley went from one day doing regular house chores to the next day having no energy, difficulty breathing, and coughing up blood. She was rushed to the hospital to find her lungs were bleeding, causing her hemoglobin (amount of blood in your body) to be at 3.2, which normally should be between 12-16, so she had to be placed in a medically induced coma for 6 days to help her body heal, slow down the bleeding, and help her breathe easier. The doctors determined that Ashely has a rare auto immune disease called Anti-myeloperoxidase vasculitis (MPO-AAV), one that is known for attacking the bodies own organs, especially the lungs and the kidneys. During her 19 days stay in the hospital, Ashely had issues with clotting, getting out of the coma, weakness which made it hard to get up to walk again, and stage 4 kidney failure. Unfortunately, her kidneys began to fail as a result of not only the auto immune disease, but because of the harsh treatments and medications Ashley had to be on to keep this disease from killing her. As a result, Ashley has had to be put on oxygen, steroids, chemo medications, and have a few dialysis sessions, which have all taken a major toll on her body, and affecting her ability to fight off other sickness.Just recently, Ashley had to return to the hospital because she got pneumonia and more blood clots, due to her medication and treatment plan. Her kidney failure has posed more issues with running the necessary tests and giving her the necessary medications, which has resulted in greater harm to her kidneys. These tests and treatments have now put her in stage 5 kidney failure which means she will have to have dialysis 3 days a week.Due to the toll this disease and treatments are taking on her body, Ashley is hardly able to work, especially with the amount of time it takes for each dialysis treatment and lack of energy. Due to the loss of income and how expensive the treatments are, along with the hospital and doctor bills, I want to find a way to try to help Ashley and Brian out financially as they adapt to this new, drastically altered lifestyle. They have a long, hard, costly fight ahead of them get them and could use a little less worry and stress from the financial burden this unexpected medical situation has placed on them.
Thank you so much for helping and reading her story
