Team Luna - Luna’s Fight Against Cancer

My niece Luna is a brave 7 year old girl who has Tatton Brown Rahman Syndrome (TBRS) and a long medical history that started at birth. At 18 months she was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma. After two rounds of chemo and multiple surgical debulkings, the status of her Neuroblastoma has been stable with no new growth. However, in October of 2018, at the age of 6, Luna was diagnosed with her second cancer, T-cell Lymphoblastic Lymphoma. She has gone through intense chemotherapy treatment for 14 months. Unfortunately, at the start of the 15th month, a mature T-cell Leukemia was found after Luna had been sick for a month. It is believed to be a relapse that has transformed into a different phenotype Leukemia. The only treatment options Luna has now are to find drugs that will put her into remission so that she can then have a bone marrow transplant. It is extremely hard to treat t-cell malignancies (~10% curative). However, we hold onto hope that the chemo will work and help her achieve remission so that she can have a bone marrow transplant. Luna has endured more challenges in her life than most adults do in their lifetime.

Luna has been in the hospital since the end of December 2019. Her parents (Luke and Laura) have been by her side the entire time to support and advocate for her.  Luna is currently receiving care 268 miles away from home at CHOP (Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia) and is expected to be there for quite some time. When she reaches remission she will need a Bone Marrow Transplant and will need to remain close by to CHOP in case issues arise.

Both Luke and Laura have been out of work since Luna’s admission into the hospital.  It is their wishes to stay with Luna and support her in every way possible.  Any money raised will go towards everyday expenses such as food and monthly bills.  Luke and Laura have a son Liam who is currently remaining in New York with family members while mommy and daddy help Luna get stronger and beat yet another cancer.
