Good Fortune

                                         THE PROJECT

I'm on my way! After moving to Los Angeles two years ago to attend Loyola Marymount's School of Film and Television, I have the pleasure of directing my first large scale production. I am set to shoot the weekend of February 19th. I fell in love with filmmaking in 7th grade, while creating the school news. After 13 years of hard work, I have  only grown from there and can't wait to show my progress as my vision becomes a reality in my Junior thesis project, titled "Good Fortune." Even though it will only be 5 minutes, filmmaking costs money and I'm hoping that my friends and family will help. In exchange, there will be added perks for different donation levels as described below (donations are not limited to these reward levels). Here is my story...

                                               THE STORY

All of us could use a little luck, and Sara is no exception. Struggling to end a bad relationship, she brings her boyfriend, Andrew, to her favorite chinese restaurant hoping for some Good Fortune. As she discusses her relationship issues, little does she know there is a sympathetic ear not far away willing to help.  A mysterious fortune writer is listening in on their conversation, conjuring up the perfect fortune to give her the self-confidence she needs to learn how to love herself even without the "love" of Andrew.

                                              THE IMPACT

I chose to write this script because of all of the empowering women I've met in my life and their stories. Unfortunately, not all women have the same opportunities. Too many times, domestic violence holds women back, no matter physical or emotional. My story is about a young woman who over comes domestic violence. Although it is fictional, many women have found themselves in similar relationships as Sara's, and it is a very important story to be told. One of the reasons I wanted to get into film was to give women a voice. To find out more about domestic violence, please read here:

                                     THANKS IN ADVANCE

Unlike most things I've made in highschool and my first years of college, this production will require some funding in order for my vision to become a reality. In addition to writing and directing, I have to organize the entire production process. This involves:
-recruiting crew and feeding them
-location fees
-transportation
-props
-set decorations
-wardrobe
-Etc.
The budget for the film is $3,450. I've been fortunate enough to have overwhelming support from family and friends, and I'm hoping that this goal can be met with your help. I understand not everyone can contribute, however, any amount helps (and are not at all limited to the reward levels below), even simply spreading the word and sharing this page! So I'm thanking you in advance for any contribution to not only my short film, but to my education and my future!

Thank you all for your continuous support!
