Thank you for visiting this GoFundMe page for my father-in-law Mario Lukin.
Here’s a little back story of Mario. He is from a small island in Croatia. He loves to swim, free-dive, spear fish and most of all, play with his grand children Stella and Maximus. Mario is a retired Nuclear Machinist from San Onofre Nuclear Power Plant in San Onofre California. He’s a very hard worker who always put others before him. Mario has always been there for me and I wanted to give back as much as I can. As a union electrician, jobs are very slow right now. A blessing in disguise, because I’ve been able to be here, helping Mario everyday since he’s been home.
Mario is a husband, father and grandfather (‘Dida’ in Croatian) to two very beautiful grandchildren. Mario loved taking his grandchildren to the park and enjoyed every second with them as they played. They love their Dida very much and miss him taking them to the park.
On January 2nd, at the age of 59, Mario suffered a severe stroke which left his entire left side temporarily paralyzed. I say temporarily because I (along with the doctors, family and friends) believe that he will walk again. I started this GoFundMe page for Mario to help with the medical bills, therapy and medical equipment he needs to walk again. Although he has insurance, the HMO is not covering everything. Mario needs extensive therapies and the insurance is only giving him the bare minimum and on April 1st, he will have exceeded the allowable paid sessions.
Mario has a long road ahead of him but with perseverance and determination, he will walk again! He has made a lot of progress since January 2nd. Although he hasn’t been able to take his first step yet, he is gaining his strength back. We are seeing improvements everyday but Mario will need many more therapy sessions and continued care in order to reach his goal of walking again. Any donations will be most greatly appreciated!
