Anita Rivera was diagnosed with cancer for a second time. She has been a fighter but unfortunately this time, she has lost the battle. We are looking to raise money to cover the costs of her funeral, burial, and reception.

Her Story
Anita was diagnosed with stage four colon cancer 12 years ago. At that time, she was told her chances of living were slim and that she most likely wouldn’t live past one year. But Anita was determined to live, to watch her two sons grow up, and make all the sacrifices she endured worth it. And she did just that. She was cancer free for ten years after beating her colon cancer until she was given terrible news again in August 2018. Anita was diagnosed again with cancer. This time she had Large B cell lymphoma. The doctors were optimistic that she would once again be a cancer survivor. She spent the last year and a half in and out of the hospital, enduring chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and radiation. There were small victories but unfortunately the doctors had underestimated the cancer. Her small victories were simply not enough and the curtain was starting to close on her chances.

On January 6th, the doctors told us there were no more treatment options and that Anita’s cancer was incurable. It had spread to her brain, bones, and spinal cord leaving her with little to no motor function in her arms and legs. She was still determined to fight, but the only thing left to fight for was time with her family. She was placed on hospice with days to weeks left to live.

She has spent the last two weeks planning the last precious moments of her life. Something she didn't think she would have to plan with her sons so early on in life and while dealing with a pile of medical expenses and no funds to cover the costs of a funeral. Anita’s only wish left is to spend her last breaths with her family close by her side free of the emotional and financial stresses of death.
How You Can Help
In order to help her achieve this, we are trying to raise $25,000 to cover the costs of her funeral, burial, and reception. She has spent her entire life giving to those more in need, and now she is the one who needs us to help her. No donation is too small and we appreciate every penny we are given.
