Anya Kucharev Tribute
CONFIDENTIAL
Since the 1970s, Anya Kucharev has dedicated much of her life to help facilitate U.S.‑Soviet citizen diplomacy. She has served as a TRANSLATOR and INTERPRETER in numerous ways during multiple trips to the former Soviet Union and Russia and in many roles: as a translator of language, culture, world views, and social systems. In addition, Anya has been an organizer, author, friend, mentor, educator, publisher, editor, archivist, adviser, and more.
Anya’s work has affected our lives and work in various ways: connecting people in Russia and America, introducing citizen diplomats to each other, and generously providing rich archival material which she has kept in storage for many years – at her cost.
Over the past 40+ years, Anya has given countless hours of her time without asking for anything in return. Humbly doing the work of many, especially as a translator and interpreter, her work has mostly been invisible – until now.
As a symbol of our appreciation, in gratitude for her devotion to world peace and citizen diplomacy, and to honor Anya’s major contributions to the citizen diplomacy movement, we, the undersigned, created this GoFundMe account.
We believe that Anya’s work has affected more people than we know, so we will appreciate it if you share this GoFundMe donation page with others whom you know Anya has supported or helped.
IMPORTANT
All donations to Anya’s GoFundMe account MUST BE A SECRET until we make the “Big Reveal” to her. Although those who donate can leave comments on the GoFundMe site, please do not speak, write, or mention any of this initiative directly to Anya. Once we show her the site, she will be able to read your comments.
ALL your donations will be given to Anya. We will absorb any processing fees involved in the maintenance of the GoFundMe account.
With gratitude and appreciation,

Birgit Menzel, Paul Hillery, Ana Fatima Costa, and Julie Christensen
