Today I received what I consider to be devastating news. After having one dentist tell me my lower teeth are all but gone (despite crowns & bridges & partials), I was told I had to have most of them pulled and at the least a new partial and support system installed.
I got a second opinion and it's even worse than I was first told. Turns out that would be a very expensive venture that would not last long. Then I would have to have yet more work done.
My Mother paid for me to go thru 6 years of hell with braces (and at an unknown expense to me) to try to save a mouth that looked like someone had tossed in unpopped popcorn. I went thru various oral surgeries and 6 years of hell. And then the braces came off...and teeth started crumbling.
I have spent many years and way too much money trying to save my teeth. All but two were capped, and several of those eventually had to be pulled and expensive bridges were installed. One of those failed, resulting in a partial. I've gone thru countless root canals. Recently I had a lower crown just break off. I'm not only at my wit's end, I'm frustrated and without the funds to fix my mouth properly.
My appearance and smile mean something to me. I am an entertainer. I primarily do theater but I also sing. While I love singing in shows, I also do my own cabaret act, combining comedy, storytelling, movement & songs. I do a lot of benefit performances because I consider my talents a gift. Perhaps if I charged for some of what I do, I'd have the money I need now. I'm retired from Corporate America, after 30 years. I've been in entertainment for 60 years, but being local, it doesn't pay much, if anything, at all.
In order to fix my lower teeth properly I will need $21,000 for four implants and a denture. This will preserve my jaw bone and give me the security of teeth that will not pop out while I'm singing and/or performing. I've gone my entire life without asking for help, and I really hate asking for it now, but I don't know what else to do. Playing the lottery seems rather risky and wasteful.
If you could make a contribution to help me get back my smile and confidence, I'd certainly appreciate it. Perhaps, if I'm lucky enough, I'll be in a position to help someone else the same way. Thank you.
