T1D diagnosis for Saylor

Saylor became very ill Sunday night and after taking him to the hospital, we discovered that he has Type 1 Diabetes. His blood sugar was so high that his body was shutting down in something called Diabetic Ketoacidosis. He’s out of the ICU now and we are in the Children’s Hospital in Portland where he’s receiving care from an endocrinology team.
As everyone knows, our family has been full time traveling in an RV for the past year. We qualify for state insurance but only in our home state where we have proof of permanent address, which is Florida. I cannot afford out of pocket cost for insulin and his endocrinologist appointments. I have applied for state insurance to cover all of his insulin and supplies costs, but that means all of his endocrinologist appointments and any future medication he needs (when we are discharged) will have to be scheduled and filled within Florida where our insurance is valid and accepted. This is a huge obstacle because we are currently in Oregon which is a 40 hour drive from home (3,000 miles) Our plan before this diagnosis was to take our time heading back to Florida so that I were able to generate funds on the road for gas money to make it home and other needs. This is no longer an option as he needs to get back to Florida ASAP after discharge to start seeing a specialist. I am posting with the hope that our friends and family may be able to help us generate money to get home and for the out of pocket cost of insulin for when we are on the way home as the hospital can only provide us with what we need while we are here.
