Hello, my name is Katherine Moore from Vancouver, WA. I am reaching out to ask you to consider contributing to an emergency fund for my boyfriend, Damion, who recently experienced the tremendous devastation of Hurricane Melissa on his family home in Jamaica.

Damion works in the US much of the year on an H2B visa as a talented chef and returns home in between jobs. We met three years ago while both working at the same resort in the Olympic National Park. He recently returned home from his most recent job only 2 weeks before the strongest hurricane to make landfall in Jamaica in recorded history enveloped the small country. Gratefully, Damion and his family were not injured, but his home and his family's homes were severely damaged. They have been without power for almost 3 weeks and also struggle to obtain clean water for drinking. Supplies continue to be limited, and repairs will likely take many months. Damion is working daily to repair his home, including his roof, as well as remove the debris of large trees pushed up against his home and blocking the road. We are asking you to contribute what you can if you can. The funds will be used to purchase a generator, tools, and supplies needed for the long road ahead.
