Namaste, my name is Syndi Teuber, thank you taking the time to read this plea for help. My first trip to Nepal was shortly after the devastating earthquake in 2015. The kindness and resilience of the Nepalese won my heart. There was a short window this year I was able to return for my third visit. This trip I made it Gatlang, in the Langtang Mountain range, part of the Himalayans. An area so remote, only recently vehicles could make the trip.

I spent a day teaching the younger children English. Providing school supplies, paper and pencils, colored paper, crayons, and notebooks gave me such joy, I hope it will you too. The beautiful teacher told me they had only a few books. This planted a seed, and it has grown.

On my next pilgrimage to the Langtang region, we are going to build a library. The problem is, there is no Amazon that deliver books, or Costco close by. Most goods that get into Gatlang are by a Yak and only very recently by jeep. All books and other supplies need to be purchased in Kathmandu and brought there.

There is no good way to get to Gatlang. Located at an elevation of 2,600 meters and a mere 30 kilometers from the border of Tibet, the route to the village is the worst road I have ever experienced. From landslides to stalled busses to torrential downpours, from reckless jeep drivers to army checkpoints, traveling the 150 kilometers from Kathmandu to Gatlang is a ten-hour, white-knuckled, ordeal.

The mission, with your help, is to acquire hundreds of children's books, puzzles, and education materials and see them safely into the classroom in Gatlang.
