A Miracle Needed for Trina

Donation protected
Getting Trina her life back has been a long difficult journey for the past 6 years and we feel like we're 90% closer to recovery.  This last part is proving to be the hardest part not only for her but for us as her parents and only support system.  It rips us apart everyday watching her suffer.  We carefully thought this out and as a last resort are choosing to do a fund raising campaign.

As many of you are aware, Trina has battled Lyme Disease for many years and in the process of that, has unfortunately become addicted to Valium.  She was put on a medication protocol for the last 5 years to deal with the Lyme Disease and it has proven to be quite successful.  She hasn't had any Lyme symptoms for quite some time now.

Many medications were prescribed to her over the years to deal with chronis fatigue, fibramyalgia, severe anxiety, depression and chronic pain, all a result of the Lyme Disease.  She is currently still on alot of medications and her desire is to come off all meds and begin to live a healthy, whole life again.

Sadly, Trina's body has become very addicted to the Valium.  Her doctor prescribed a dose that equalled to another drug called Xanax.  He told us that it would be easier to get off of in the long run.

After seeking many other medical professional opinions, it appears that this doctor may have made a gross miscalculation which has lead to serious mistake in his profession.   Commonly known as medical malpractice.  Unfortunately Trina's case doesn't "qualify" for a medical malpractice suit.

He started her on 240mg per day which we now know is only ever started at a maximum of 40mg per day. Trina has managed to come down to 50mg per day but this is where it gets the most difficult.  She now suffers withdrawal symptoms daily and apparantley will only get worse.  At the tapering level she is at now, it would be another 2 years until she is safely off of this horrible, nightmare of a drug.

Trina has suffered so much in the last 5 years and to think that she needs to endure another 2 years is too much to even fathom.  Unfortunately, our medical system doesn't offer much for severe addictions but there are many private facilities that people can go to but the costs are high.  We have done alot of research and searching out avenues for her but to no avail.
There are only a few detox centres that will actually work with a patient that is detoxing from Benzodiazepines.  The risks are too great.

We recently came upon a place on Bowen Island that has had lots of experience with Benzodiazepines and is willing to take her.  She will not only detox from the Valium, she will receive crucial counselling and guidance in moving forward in her life, after being couped up in bed for five years.  This program is a 2-6 month program, depending on the complexity of each case.  Trinas may fall into the more complex catagory.  It is fully medically staffed.  The program is costly and as you can see, we are trying to raise $18,000.00 for Trina to get her life back.  There's a good chance we'll need to raise more if she needs to stay longer which is likely in her case.  When we calculate the costs of doctors, nurses, psychiatrists, psychologists, nutritionists, kitchen, cleaning and administration staff, we understand why it costs this much to detox in their program.

We know many of you out there have followed along with us in prayer for Trina over the years and many of you out there, we know, love her dearly.

More than anything in the world, we would love to be able to send her to this private detox centre where she can come off of the Valium in a safe, medically staffed facility.  She could at any point through the tapering, have seizures (that's the doctors biggest concern) and if she drops too drastically, she could even go into cardiac arrest and die.

Canada only offers at best, a few day tox programs across the country that Trina could never do.  It would require her to drive every day to a hospital where they would treat her for 2 hours then drive back home.  Watching her the last several months in withdrawal, it would be impossible for her to do this.  Her symptoms are severe nausea, pain in the stomach and vomitting.   Two more years of this?  She wouldn't get through it.

Would you be willing to help in this fund raising endeavour to help Trina get her life back.  The losses she has suffered are too many to mention and it breaks our hearts to see her in such a deep depression and struggling with huge anxiety.  The anxiety is crippling and often causes vomitting.  The Valium also causes that.  She needs a miracle and with your help, we could get her the help she needs.

If in anyway, this message offends you, or has reached you somehow and you don't even know Trina, we deeply apologize.  Please know our hearts....we would never intentially want to offend.   Our hope is that we could rally dear friends and family who'd be willing to participate in this campaign and not only we, but Trina, would be forever endebted and grateful to each and every one of you.

with much love and appreciation to you all,
