Reality with type 1 Diabetes
Donation protected
Hi everyone,
I'm here to try to relieve just some of the stress and burden I've been dealing with over the past few years from dealing with type 1 diabetes and many doctors and hospital visits at times I was uninsured. Diabetes is almost unaffordable being uninsured. The few times I'm most concerned with and struggling to deal with include my most recent and hopefully last visit to the hospital uninsured. Jan 14,2014 I was admitted into the er and diagnosed with pneumonia and influenza A. The hospital had to transfer me via ambulance due to needing certain specialists to watch over me with type 1 being apart of the madness. I spent the next 6 days in isolation ICU, with trial and error with what would treat the influenza and infection in my lungs while not completely throwing my diabetes under the bus . I was so upset and fighting even going to the hospital that night as I was a mere 2 weeks from my health coverage starting . The other major bills I'm trying to get covered are all now in collections as well from a year of battling complications of the disease poorly as a child. As an apprentice electrician I'm still living paycheck to paycheck until I can take my license, all while staying fit and healthy now trying to be the new face of young diabetics that feel they can't get through it. I'd like to put these bills behind me and put all my energy into my health and awareness of this disease. Thank you all for any help and even stopping and reading this.
