My sister, April, has what is called chiari malformation. It is something that people are born with but symptoms usually don't show up until around 30 years old. She has been getting horrible debilitating headaches the past couple of years and put on all sorts of different medications but nothing has helped. A couple of months ago the doctor she is working for discovered that it was in fact chiari malformation. This is where the cerebellum herniates into the spinal canal, compressing the brain stem. The only way to fix this is to remove a bone by cutting into her skull giving her brain the adequate space it needs. The recovery time is a month and a half plus. Her insurance pays for most the hospital expenses but she is a single mother with lots of bills and won't be returning to work until the end of February. Thank you in advance for any help, prayers and well wishes you send her way!
