We are trying to raise funds for amazing friends of ours and their family to lighten some of the financial burden they are and will be experiencing.

When Robin was diagnosed with cancer, Ernie picked up extra work to support the family and the extra medical expenses incurred. With the latest update, we would like to raise money to give Robin and Ernie the opportunity to spend as much precious time with their family and friends as financially possible.

It's been a really long time since I've posted a Robin More-Hoag update. There's a significant part of me that wonders if this all wouldn't have been even a little easier, if I'd been more diligent. Regardless, this is where we are:

In December 2023 Robin had a huge surgery which lasted nearly 12 hours. The goal was to remove all of the visible tumors and to flood her abdomen with warmed chemo with the hope that that would bring her to remission. We were initially very optimistic, though her 1st follow- up CT was slightly concerning.

The next CT showed me concerning areas and by May of 2024 she had to start routine chemo again. Over the last year Robin was diligent about attending her bi- weekly chemo sessions. Follow- up CTs were never better but the tumors were kept fairly stable. All of that came with a price though: constant fatigue and general malaise.

In April of this year Robin took a lengthy break, so we could enjoy some travel. When we returned she had a lengthy conversation with her oncologist, and the decision was made for Robin to stop treatment. The oncologist believed we were fighting a losing battle, and in Robin's words she "wanted her life back."

Absent the chemo, Robin's been having good and bad days. She's had near-constant but sometimes manageable pain. She fatigues easily, but is able to recharge with naps and an early bed time.

Last Wednesday we had a lengthy conversation with the oncologist. She fully supports the cessation of treatment and yet the tumors continue to grow and spread. More importantly, the doctor made a referral for Hospice care. We've had lots of hard conversations about lots of tough things.

How do you plan to go on without someone you've spent nearly your entire adult life with? How do you guide a child whose entire life revolves around her relationship with her mother? Where do we go from here?

So, while we know time is not on our side, we've agreed to live life to the fullest- as much as this demon cancer will allow. Part of taking her life back is doing some of the things we used to live to do; traveling, hanging out with friends, and walking this journey together.

We still believe that God is in charge, though admittedly, this has all been faith- challenging. Please pray for us; for Robin's comfort and for peace for all of us. Because this is hard. So, so hard. Drop us a text. Or a call. Arrange a visit. We promise to not make it awkward.

Thank you for reading this far. We love you all. God bless.
