Helping a Family Rebuild After a House Fire

My name is Cassie McCants, and I’m raising money that will go directly toward helping my friend Amanda Edinger, her husband, and their five children after losing their home in a devastating electrical fire.

On July 31st, tragedy struck when an electrical fire happened at Amanda’s home, leaving it unlivable. The damage is so severe that the electric company cannot restore power without risking another fire.

Since that day, Amanda, her husband, and their five children have been living in a hotel, trying to piece their lives back together. The Red Cross generously stepped in to cover hotel costs for the past two weeks, but that assistance ends this week. After that, they will have no help with shelter.

If you know Amanda and her boys, you know they are a part of the heart of this community. Hayden is a friend to everyone — the kind of kid who always makes people feel welcome and included. And Amanda is the person who would give you the shirt off her back without hesitation. She’s always been the one to show up for others, and now she’s the one in need.

Amanda has reached out to every resource she can — including LIHEAP and welfare — but has been told they are unable to assist. This family is now facing the frightening reality of having nowhere to go.

We are raising funds to help them secure a safe and stable home, replace essentials lost in the fire, and cover other urgent needs during this transition. This includes:

• Housing costs to move into a new place

• Furniture and household necessities to replace what was lost

• Gas expenses for daily travel between Beaver Falls and Ellwood so the boys can continue attending football practices and school

• Everyday essentials to help them get through this difficult time
